i’m in panic mode.

August 31st, 2007 by deedeecus

when you type “stress” in Google the fist suggestion it makes is “management”. well it’s a GREAT suggestion…

I hapanic buttonve A LOT of exams the upcoming 2 weeks and next to no time to study , AND the time i do have will not be used to its max because , like i said, i’m in panic mode. i’d rather be working!

the fact is that when you are stressed and have to do something, like me having to study right now, you find yourself having to do a lot of other different things which have suddenly become very very important. for example i HAD TO do my nails today, i had to clean the house the other day and my desk every day and so on and so forth… the truth is these are all excuses.

therefore, I’ve decided to try to reduce to a minimum activities that might interfere with my focus and minimize my chances of success. this unfortunately includes blogging and reading blogs. it’s a great excuse these days for me… i will definitely be back in a few days.

bad things come to and end (too).

“Blogs” - a new category in CVs

August 28th, 2007 by deedeecus

I was thinking the other day… with all this exponential growth of blogging and bloggers wouldn’t it be a logical step to include in the basic CV format the category BLOG?

Blog. Do you own a blog? If yes, do you own more than one blog?|
What is the style of your blog(s)?
Blog address(es): ….

I believe you can learn a hell lot from a blog about the person writing it, and if I were in the HR industry or simply in the position of hiring someone I would definitely ask this question. After all, I want to know as much as I can about the future employee.

Should this category or interview question be optional? Many have had problems at work because of their writing and , as a cheezy cheeky says, “there is no such thing as off the record”…  I’m sure bosses read their employees’ blogs. Or if they don’t, they should!

The fashionable travelogs

August 27th, 2007 by deedeecus

I’ve returned yesterday from a week-long vacation at the Black Sea and I need to promise myself (a.k.a. my readers) that I will not leave again without saying. My mom will be happy to know. To help overlook this mistake I invite you to the Fredo & Pidjin universe.

This last episode is simply genius:

Fredo & Pidjin

Like the comic characters above, I had a shocking experience / revelation: every time I would see something interesting (the Danube in the morning, the infinite Baragan plain) or experienced something (14-hour Romanian train ride just to get there) the first thought that came to mind was:

“I should blog about this.”

OMG! Is this normal? Maybe not but it sure is trendy.
Almost every blogger I read has at least one travelog post , if not a travelog per say. I didn’t read any of those posts.

?

Because my perfect-vacation-planning-season is over. Because there is no perspective(for me) of going on another vacation any time soon. Because this moment the only perspective ahead is work and study. Because these posts are just too long to read right now.

But please, do write your travel impressions. I look forward to reading them next year.

I cannot stand very loud music

August 17th, 2007 by deedeecus

except in a club or disco where I love it. But to torture my ear drum “in the comfort of my own home” or to consciously stress myself out when I’m driving relaxed on a beautiful day.
Never.
The truth is I cannot focus on doing anything if the music is too loud. It’s like that strong base is all I can think about… in a club there’s nothing to focus on except dancing. See my point?

Even worse is when you are forced to listen to music at maximum volume: in a store for example. Here, in Romania, quite a few stores try to be cool and fancy by turning that volume button to the max. Lee Cooper for example. In this kind of situation I walk in and I walk out. I refuse to communicate by screaming. Poor fancy salesgirls…

I honestly believe that sonic pollution has a tremendous affect on our brain. Loud music may sound good or apparently relax you, but I believe it is still pollution to our neurons.

For those of you who disagree with me here is a little treat. Maybe this will be enough: THE SONIC BED

sonic bed

“12 channel surround sound and requires 220 volts to power of electricity and covers every inch of your body in sound” as described on Freshome.

This post is dedicated to my dear friend, The Fist.
