Sex sells? Think again… think of the perfect consumer

June 9th, 2007 by deedeecus

One of the best romanian bloggers in my opinion (Vivi) made a very interesting point in a post recently about the stories all around us. Yes, stories. As a marketing technique or tool the story seems to be the most efficient on the long term.

Take the proverbial step back and think about it. What is the profile of the ideal consumer?Or what profile should he have for a healthy growth and development of a company on the long term? A perfect consumer should simply love the product/service , he should be so passionate and “convinced” of the product that at some point will almost defy logic. He will defend the brand and promote the brand like a true brand manager , even though he doesn’t realize what he is actually doing.

Do such perfect consumers exist? Of course: they buy… no! they believe in Apple, Harley Davidson, Absolut etc. etc. etc. These brands tell their buyers a story that is told so good and with such constance that their consumers actually form a community which believes in a particular story, which lives that story and tells it further to their friends.

Now think of a good commercial, print or even magazine cover which you really liked or made you feel all mushy inside. I bet it told you a story. and I bet it told it very good. Did you think of that beer commercial with a can of the liquid in your hand and a bunch of 80% naked girls around you? I don’t think so.

Stories are the new/better sex.

No. 1: Pasta a la Laura

June 7th, 2007 by deedeecus

I just started this blog 30 minutes ago and of course, first thing’s first : foood. Unfortunately, I love to eat … I’ll discuss more about this problematic issue later. Right know I’m about to cook something and I really have to share. It’s a great recipe.

Pasta a la Laura

Ingredients:

  1. 500g of pasta (type: penne)
  2. half of chicken breast (no bones allowed) - chopped (byte-size)
  3. 250g pemmican (that’s a kind of meat but you can use ham) - chopped
  4. 1 onion - chopped as small as you can
  5. 2 garlic cloves - chopped as small as you can
  6. 500g cow cream
  7. 250g chopped mushrooms
  8. maybe 1 spoon of flower
  9. salt, pepper, spices

How To:

In a big enough pan you put a little sunflower oil and start frying the byte-size chopped chicken breast. Add salt, pepper and spices (keep it simple here) and keep stirring the meat until it changes its color and starts getting cooked enough to eat . Also the flame of the stove should be small. This is gonna take a while so take your time.

When you think the chicken breast is almost done (eatable) add the mushrooms, pemmican/ham , garlic and onion and keep stirring for about 10-15 min. Add sunflower oil and spices/salt/pepper if necessary.

When you think they’re all cooked add the cream and keep stirring for about 5 min. It the sauce resulted is too liquid add a spoon of flour and stir for about another 5 min.

In the mean time you should have boiled the pasta with a little salt.

Enjoy:

Voila! Get 3 plates. Put the pasta. Put the souce with all the goodies. Enjoy!

Be sure to let me know how it went!

LATER EDIT:

Just finished eating. HE complimented the cooking. :) Wanted to share with you the “final product” so here is a picture.

The pasta is not penne , as in the receipe, but it works just as well.
