as personal as it gets

I have to do this

November 21st, 2008 by deedeecus

This year I’ve reached the conclusion that TIME is extremely valuable. I know, I’m amazing and witty. And the more I appreciated it the less I seem to have it . Time that is.

So not to waste any more of yours : i am freezing this blog.

Now, I hope you will have the courtesy of reading my last post :)

First of all, I like writing and I liked having my own little place i.e. deedeecus.com. The fact is I feel right now I cannot deliver the value I intended to for my readers when i started it in ‘07.

It takes time and dedication to create a valuable blog and it has to be a priority. For me, blogging didn’t make the list and I won’t settle for anything less.

Secondly, I am freezing deedeecus despite the fact that I have tons of things I wanted to share: I love Obama , weird fashion trends, food, the fact that I just turned 23 and I got a strange hit of maternal instinct - no marriage instinct though… . You get the point :)

Moreover, I am at a point in my life where I am starting a lot of things and finishing few. I want to focus more on my education, my work and my personal projects.

However, I cannot completely shut down from the word. So I’ll be happy to meet you on Twitter at @diana_apan , where I’ve been in the last couple of moths AND in the real world, which I’ve learned to appreciate more in the last few years. (That means you too, Vlad :P )

Finally, you notice I said “freeze” not “quit”. That is because I’m sure I’ll get back to blogging one way or another. Maybe in Romanian, maybe in English, maybe after I finish my studies, maybe next month…

Travel advice - Turkey

August 14th, 2008 by deedeecus

I’ve returned last week from a perfect holiday in Turkey and I want to share some traveling tips I find essential. I’ll be short.

But fiiirst…There are 2 kinds of vacations you can have in Turkey, be sure to decide what you want from the start:

  • typical traveling - that involves sightseeing, visiting, basically discovering a new country in as much detail as possible. In this case you need a proper home documentation. For such a trip in Turkey my recommendation is simple: do NOT go in the Antalya region or any region very near Antalya. There is really very little to see on that coast of Turkey. Instead go to Istambul, Ankara, Pamukkale etc. Maybe Raluca[RO] can give us more tips on this kind of trip when she returns from Turkey.
  • total relaxation - sitting back, reading by the pool, sleeping in, eating well :) ,with not a single care in the world. That is surely something Turkey can offer you. All inclusive, of course. This is what me and my friends wanted and we got it in full. Therefore my advice are related to this kind of vacation.

My total-relaxation-in-Turkey tips:

1. Documentation

Go to a 4 start hotel, minimum 4 star, they are affordable in Turkey. (Ours was 5*) Do not even think of booking a room or leaving your country without checking out the hotel on tripadvisor or holidaycheck. It’s a must. Look at the ratings, look at the reviews, look at the pictures taken by other tourists. Priceless. In Turkey there can be HUGE differences between two 5* hotels and you don’t wanna be taken by surprise.

2. Tip tip tip!

The staff is generally very hospitable to tourists but keep in mind that the guys cleaning up your table are working 10-14 hours a day. They are not in swimming suits and can’t lay back by the pool if they feel like it. Moreover they surely have small salaries. Would you smile around the clock in those conditions? ALL the time? Tip them, when you can, how you can but tip them. It will surely improve your stay significantly.

3. No hablo englesh

Not everyone speaks in English. I know.. it’s amazing! In Turkey you don’t do much with English. Instead German or Russian will help you in any situation. If those aren’t your strengths be sure you know the universal language of POINTING :) … I did manage to learn one phrase in Turkish - Sarhos oldum - i.e. I’m drunk :) maybe it’ll help you

That’s it. For now. I wasn’t short. Damn. More pics here.

view from our room

And another thing: thank you Travela for giving me a push to write this post. I’m not really generous to future tourists :| Can I still win if I write in English? hmmmm…

Back from outerspace

August 14th, 2008 by deedeecus

Yeah baby! I’m back. I know I left without a word.

That’s because, like every blogger at least once in their life , I’ve seriously considered shutting this place down. For many reasons. But I can’t. I relax with deedeecus.com and I want to believe that somehow in the future I will be able to create the valuable blog I dream of.

Meanwhile, I’ve been enjoying the summer here (Cluj), back home and in Turkey.

Note to self: Dee, stop trying, you will never ever be able to learn Turkish, nor need to. The only words you have to know in this language you already know them - Sarhos oldum!

Here are a few more pics from my turkish getaway.

If Mihaela Radulescu is on Twitter…

May 30th, 2008 by deedeecus

This morning I had a very short chat on Twitter with @miradulescu. What do you know…

It was a very bold move on her part to enter this little world and a clear-cut differentiation from the rest of the local stars who started personal blogs (Andreea Raicu, Tudor Chirila, Andreea Marin etc.) Probably most of the public opinion expected her to start a blog since she’s already writing a popular column in Romanian ELLE Magazine. She didn’t.

For now I like her twitts, she writes with passion (if you can imagine that in 140 characters) and a clear mark of a strong personality. She twitts about her work, her likes and dislikes… like the rest of us :)

I’m curious to see how she’ll handle “the noise”.

miradulescu

Who is Mihaela Radulescu? Official website. English short bio. A relevent article title about her from AdPlayers: M. Radulescu earns about $1 million a year from advertising. I think a more appropriate term would be brand endorsement.

And my favourite twitt of hers for the day here (RO)

Wonder why Zoso didn’t write about this…
